For nearly two decades, teachers across Australia have invited Poetry in Action into their classrooms. They’ve seen shy students find their voices, reluctant readers discover joy in language, and young minds light up through performance.
Now, we invite you to honour them and ensure the next generation of students and teachers have access to this same spark.
We have a dual mission: to acknowledge the teachers and mentors who inspired you and your gift will impact the next generation. Every $12.50 supports one young person through Play It Forward. In 2026, our 20th year, honoured mentors will be celebrated on a national Honour Roll displayed proudly at all anniversary events and on tour across Australia.
This living Honour Roll will travel the country, uniting past inspiration with future opportunity.

Give $1 for every year since you left school.
Pledge monthly or as a one-off gift and, if you wish, leave your teacher’s name and a short message of thanks.
Join the Chairman’s Council
For an annual pledge of $2,000, you will join a dedicated group of supporters who meet several times a year to celebrate progress, attend behind-the-scenes events, and help us expand our reach to regional and remote schools.
Become a Regular Giver
Your weekly or monthly gift sustains our touring program, helps us keep tickets affordable, and ensures every young person — regardless of postcode, can experience the power of language and performance.

Where does my donation go?
Poetry in Action is a fast paced organisation, and things are always happening! General donations on this page empower us to allocate funds wherever they are needed most. Regular (e.g. monthly) donations help give us certainty about our funding to keep bringing poetry alive for years to come!
Is my donation tax deductible?
Poetry in Action is a registered charity in Australia with DGR (deductible gift recipient) status. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Will I get a tax receipt?
You will get a receipt emailed to you as soon as you make your donation, and for regular donations (e.g. monthly), each time a gift goes through.
What governance and accountability do you have?
We are a charity registered in Australia, and have been operating since 2006. You can read more about our governance and board here.
